Bible Info for Atheists

The Bible is the most well-documented ancient text in history, far surpassing other classical works in both manuscript quantity and accuracy. The New Testament alone has over 5,800 Greek manuscripts, with some dating within 25-50 years of the originals (e.g., the John Rylands Fragment, c. 125 AD).

In contrast, other ancient texts have far fewer copies and much later manuscripts—for example, Homer's Iliad has about 1,800 manuscripts, but its earliest copy is from 400 years after it was written; Plato's works have only 7 copies, with a 1,200-year gap; and Caesar's Gallic Wars has just 10 manuscripts, with a 1,000-year gap.
